Soo Ae travels to Bangladesh to raise awareness for early childhood marriage

Recently, actress Soo Ae traveled to Bangladesh for six days to partake in the “Creating a Village Without Early Marriage” project, run by an international voluntary organization.
As part of the project, the actress helped distribute hygiene products throughout the village and helped families whose children’s births were not able to be legally registered.
In particular, Soo Ae closely interacted with young mothers who were suffering difficulties from the consequences of forced early marriage. Reportedly, Soo Ae shed tears of sadness upon hearing the painful stories of these young mothers.
After meeting with a 17 year old mother who was raising her four year old child with her own hands, Soo Ae expressed, “It’s shocking to hear that she’s living such a tough life on the roads at an age where she should be receiving love from her own family. I hope our project serves as a starting point for helping these weakened children.”
During her stay, Soo Ae also met the parents of a 12 year old girl who was destined for early childhood marriage. It was said that the actress even went as far as trying to persuade them to stop the marriage completely, taking both the child and parents by great surprise.
Soo Ae’s journey to Bangladesh will be broadcast on two separate documentaries: MBC’s ‘News Magazine 2580′ on July 10th, and ‘Sharing is Happiness’ on the following 13th.
